October 21 is Professional Development Day for all B.C.’s teachers.  School’s out and at Tarlington Training we are offering a special workshop for all young actors between the ages of 9 and 11.  Regardless of your level, (beginner or advanced) you can spend the day learning and doing what you love with Vancouver’s best acting coaches.

AUDITIONING FOR THE CAMERA

  • Age: Young actors – 9 – 16
  • Date: November 25th 2011
  • Time: 1:30pm start
  • Cost: $130 + Tax

Topics covered by the workshop include:

  • The fundamentals of acting for camera.
  • How to present yourself in the audition
  • How to make strong choices in auditions
  • How to break down the important ingredients of a scene.
  • How to do “cold reads”.
  •  What is expected from actors in audition situations.
  •  How to read a film side.

After revising the  fundamentals of camera acting, the actors will be put through a simulated audition, so they will know what to expect from an audition from the moment they walk in, to the moment they leave.  The actors will be given feedback about their performance and instruction on how to adapt their acting technique to the camera.  The actors will work from sides from current television series and feature films.  These will be provided.

WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN ABOUT THE BUSINESS OF FILM AND TELEVISION.

The last hour of the day, parents are invited to see the work of the young actors and to have their questions answered.  This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the business side of the film and television industry from a professional who has worked in the industry as a teacher, acting coach, agent and casting director.

“As a Casting Director, I found the Tarlington Showcase to be invaluable. In fact, I had six performers I knew little about, into my room to audition within two days of the show. It bridges beautifully between theatre and film work to allow me to really view the young actors work. The training is obviously excellent as the work by everyone was exemplary. The show delivered a large number of students in a quick, comfortable and easy manner. I will be thrilled to return again.” -Stuart Aikins- Casting Director, Aikins/Cossey Casting
